Peter Bennetts

This small scale identity for photographer Peter Bennetts uses the engraved typography of the famous Compur photographic shutter. The card is double sided using a laser cut, so both sides are evident and neither side is really the front or back. There is also a circular lens/hole. Through these the card has many sides and readings, depending on whether you're looking through it, or being looked at through it, or reading it, or reading something through it...

Because Peter supplies material digitally, his other main point of contact with people is with DVDs, the sticker has the same double sided text for transparent CD cases and also goes on his equipment cases, envelopes and anything else he feels like sticking them on.

The accompanying tabloid sized newsprint publication is both documentation of his exhibition at the 2008 State of Design festival, and a more commercially-minded folio.

Information

Chase & Galley is a small design studio based in Melbourne with a critical interest in print publication design. The studio is peopled by Stuart Geddes and Tristan Main.

Chase & Galley started life as a collaboration between Stuart Geddes and Jeremy Wortsman, emerging from their first project together - Is Not Magazine. Due to his expanding commitments to the Jacky Winter Group, which he founded, Jeremy left the studio.

Stuart continues a teaching relationship with RMIT and Monash Universities, is on the board of West Space, one of Melbourne's most prestigious and innovative ARIs, was for two years the art director of Monument magazine, was for two years a councillor for AGDA Victoria, and in 2008 was an international judge on the London D&AD awards in the Newspaper and Magazine design jury.
